EVENT DESCRIPTION

This day commemorates Niue's independence from New Zealand's rulership in 1974. The Niue Constitution Act 1974 specifies the Niuean cabinet which is composed of the premier and three ministers. Together, the premier and three ministers are members of the Niue Legislative Assembly, that is the nation's parliament.

The Constitution Day itself is October 19th but the Constitution Holidays falls on the following days of October 20th and October 21st or October 22nd if October 211st should fall on a Sunday.
