EVENT DESCRIPTION
This day is dedicated to celebrating the work people do all around the world to build a better society by treating yourself and others kindly on International Workers Day. May 1st also known as May Day, was chosen for International Workers' Day to commemorate the Haymarket affair of May 4th, 1886. The event occurred in Chicago, Illinois during a worker's strike. An unidentified individual threw a bomb at the police who was on duty for crowd control. The police retorted by opening gunfire at the workers, killing four and injuring many more. Today, International Workers' Day is observed in every continent on its fixed date of May 1st.
